Our favorite Hawkeye moment is when the lights are dimmed and the music begins to play for an Iowa home basketball game as the Hawkeyes are announced one by one. You can feel the excitement in the air as the fans in Carver Hawkeye Arena gear up for a great game! More sponsor information available here and here
about the artist
Tom House is a lifelong Iowan and a dyed-in-the-wool Hawkeye fan. Most of his art experience stems from an education in landscape architecture and he uses plants and building materials as the media in planned outdoor spaces. His preference for the garden also motivates him to create two-dimensional designs in paint for the exterior of buildings. Tom has also produced a number of business logos, including one currently used by a national labor union.
BEHIND THE DESIGN
Herky usually gets in the paint by applying black and gold to the court at Carver Hawkeye. When basketball season is over, there is touch up work to do at Kinnick too. This puts him in the pink until a fumbled brush makes him see red. So much for the calming effect of this special color.
