Cedar Rapids

On November 20th, 2004, #17 Iowa beat #9 Wisconsin 30-7 to win a share of the Big10 title. The crowd instantly stormed the field, and it was pure madness. Fans scrambled over each other and I almost got trampled but it was a perfect celebration and my all-time favorite memory of being inside Kinnick Stadium.-Casey Nevill, ASL at Scheels

about the artist

Elizabeth received a BA degree in art and political science from Cornell College in 1972. She has pursued many careers, including teaching in an alternative high school, being a private investigator, and counseling women on employment issues. She has also devoted many hours to community improvement. Elizabeth continued creating art, and for the past 17 years, she has been working as a full time artist while raising her two children, now grown. She has participated in juried and invitational shows with her large fiber wall hangings and paper sculptures and her work can be found in both private and corporate collections.

My husband’s father and grandfather were hunters and the photos taken on hunting trips always showed them in their camouflage outfits blending into the woods. Hunter Herky does just that, though I imagine his bright yellow beak might alert prospective game. -Elizabeth Rhoads Read
