BEHIND THE DESIGN
Captain Herk is modeled after Captain James Tiberius Kirk. Played by William Shatner, Captain Kirk steered the U.S.S. Starship Enterprise through drama, comedy and adventure in the 1960’s sci-fi series “Star Trek.” In true Hawkeye fashion, Captain Herk sports a black and gold Starfleet uniform. Black slacks are standard for any Starfleet cadet, but the gold tunic is reserved for commanders and captains. Black and gold are also the chosen colors of the statue’s sponsor, Imprinted Sportswear.
