CAPT Herky honors all active duty and veteran members of the United States Air Force. CAPT Nate Howarth, whose sister Allie is the director of special events for the Iowa City/Coralville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, helped ensure Herky’s uniform accurately represents Air Force standards and conventions. CAPT Herky wears a medic pin to reflect the fact that CAPT Howarth is a doctor and physical therapist. Herky’s nametag also honors Howarth, who is stationed at Eglin Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. This Herky was completed by members of the Iowa City/Coralville Area CVB to honor Ms. Howarth’s work in bringing Herky on Parade to the community.
